Aurora Borealis in Yellowknife

When you arrive at Yellowknife Airport, you will meet one of our representatives of Aurora Village at the arrivals gate (Air Canada & WestJet flights only). Afterward, you are transferred and checked in to your Yellowknife hotel. (Passengers arriving on other airlines may use the free shuttle between Yellowknife Airport and downtown hotels to arrive independently at the hotel.) After getting settled and fitting your warm winter weather robe, your guide will take you to Aurora Village for your first evening of Aurora viewing! Warm-up in a picturesque teepee glowing in the night, wood fire stove burning, heated seats and choose from a delicious selection of hot beverages. Situated around the village on high ground and away from the lights of the city and any light pollution, the view of the Northern Lights is sensational. After your first Aurora experience, you are transferred back to your Yellowknife hotel. Your dinner will be included (or on day 3; select day upon arrival). Overnight in Yellowknife. Please note: Activities may be modified to snowmobiling or ice fishing with either dogsledding or snowshoeing. Please advise at time of booking.

Get ready for a day full of adventure! We will pick you up at your hotel mid-day and take you on a guided dogsledding excursion. Allow the adrenaline to take over as you board a traditional sled racing through the snowy planes and through the wooded trails with some happy, energetic dogs. Return to Aurora Village for an a-la-carte lunch, including fire-roasted bannock. After lunch, strap on your snowshoes for a guided walk along the local trails where your guide reveals how the indigenous people of the area used the flora and fauna to survive this harsh climate. An afternoon of fun on a giant ice slide and roasting marshmallows completes the daytime activities before we are heading to another evening of a mesmerizing Aurora viewing. Transfer back to your hotel for the night. Your Lunch and Aurora Dining Experience are included. Overnight in Yellowknife.

Today holds a full afternoon of exploring the historically and culturally vibrant city of Yellowknife! Your guided tour reveals its early beginnings where the “streets were paved with gold”, to its deeply rooted Aboriginal culture. Discover the Legislative Assembly and the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Center and gaze at the Old Town on a scenic drive through downtown before heading to the frozen Ice Road! An evening of Aurora viewing caps off a perfect day before being transferred back to your hotel. Dinner included (or on day 1; select day upon arrival). Overnight in Yellowknife.

Today your adventure comes to an end. Passengers departing on Air Canada & WestJet flights will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to Yellowknife Airport for your flight home. If you are departing on other airlines you may use the free shuttle between downtown hotels and Yellowknife airport to transfer independently to the airport.
